A White asparagus (Good Living, June 23) is sold at most David Jones Foodhalls and Fratelli Fresh, Waterloo. It's currently imported from Peru. The local season starts in September. White and green asparagus are identical except the former is grown in darkness so it doesn't turn green. The celebrated French asparagus of Argenteuil is grown underground.A Fresh yeast (Good Living, June 23) is sold at Kemeny's on Bondi Road, Bondi. Demeter Farm Mill produces a good range of strong biodynamic flours for bread making. I use their stoneground unbleached white, which comes out brown and makes really good bread. Their products are available at most good health food stores and in bulk from Alfalfa House on Enmore Road, Enmore (BYO flour bag). Judy Donnelly, Tarbuck BayA Swiss Bakerz on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, is a great place to buy fresh yeast and decent strong bread flour. If you talk to one of the bakers, they are really helpful. Helen BrowneA Norton Street Deli sells fresh yeast and Simon Johnson sells strong bread flour.A Most bakers' shops that bake their bread on the premises will sell yeast, as will health food shops. You may have to buy a larger amount than required but it can be frozen successfully for three months. Woolworths and health food shops sell strong bread flour.A Major retailers sell Spam (Good Living, June 23).Q I have some lovely dessert recipes that use agar agar powder. Where can I buy it or is powdered gelatin a good substitute and how much do I use?Lyn Skidmore, Bateau BayQ I am desperate to know where to buy fresh, or water-packed, burdock root. It is known as gobo in Japanese and used in many dishes such as tonjiru, oden, salads and kinpira.Lucas BurnsQ Where can you buy Mexican hot chocolate? It comes in solid blocks, which you chop up to melt into hot milk. It seems readily available in the US.Michele Howie, Grays PointQ Who sells tofu noodles?
